New Caustic Tank at Seventh Street

Caustic-Tank-at-Seventh-Street

The 4,000–gallon caustic tank located at our Seventh Street facility will reach the end of its useful life in 2019. This tank has served the District for the last 30 years and must be removed according to the rules and regulations of the Nassau County Department of Health. Caustic soda is used to neutralize the pH of the water to protect the water mains and the residential plumbing.

The new caustic tank will have a 8,000-gallon capacity and will be placed in a concrete vault in front of pump house 7-1. This new tank meets or exceeds all safety and regulatory requirements and is another example of the bond money being used to update the District’s infrastructure.
